Carolina is situated at the intersection of three main routes, thus connecting six places of destination with each other. From the North it connects the R33 to the N4 where it passes to Nelspruit at Wonderfontein. The R33 runs to the south to enter Swaziland at Oshoek or Ngwenya border gate. From Carolina it is still 100 km to the border which closes at 22h00. Travellers who are late can rather sleep at Carolina Guest House than risk to stand at a closed border. To the east we have the R38 running through Badplaas to Barberton. This R38 runs from the south-west from Secunda through Bethal and Hendrina and finds its route here through Carolina.In between we find the R36 running from Ermelo through Carolina, intersecting with the other roads and running partly through the Komati Valley to connect to the N4 at Machadodorp
